RFC7168: The Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol for Tea Efflux Appliances (HTCPCP-TEA)

A update has been published to the RFC2324: Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol (HTCPCP), to allow for an expansion to cover the use of the protocol to include Tea Efflux Appliances (which the rest of the world knows as teapots).

RFC7168 covers the various extensions necessary and backwards compatibility with the previous version of the protocol, including error codes.

The deficiency of HTCPCP in addressing the networked production of such a venerable beverage as tea is noteworthy: indeed, the only provision given for networked teapots is that they not respond to requests for the production of coffee, which, while eminently reasonable, does not allow for communication with the teapot for its intended purpose. – RFC7168 Introduction
