Meraki connects to Azure cloud

Cisco‘s Meraki division has extended their vMX100 virtual MX gateway to add Microsoft Azure instances. The new version builds on the previous Amazon AWS only deployment (see Meraki introduces virtual MX gateway for AWS).

Their blog post (Connecting Clouds) doesn’t add much in the way of technical information, but more about covering the benefits of cloud, and that they were inundated with questions about availability for Microsoft Azure. As with the AWS version, the Azure version uses resources inside the Microsoft cloud. You’ll need to pay for these consumed resources. Having a single management platform and a more straightforward setup will contribute to lower overall running costs.
