Broadcom/Brocade wireless – the Ruckus continues

So with the acquisition of Brocade by Broadcom coming to the point it may actually complete, we see that Broadcom is spinning out the elements of the business are further away from the semiconductor business it seems to be focusing on. With this the Ruckus wifi business unit of Brocade is being sold to Arris.

Arris are also buying the Brocade ICX campus switches, which will also add to their existing capabilities in carrier grade wireless, DOCCIS solutions, including Video delivery and Surfboard modems. In total Arris are spending $800m on the deal. This is considerably less than the $1.2bn Brocade originally spent on Ruckus just a few months ago.
