Go stick your head in a PIG!

Go stick your head in a PIG!

The sharp eyed amongst you would have spotted that I'm using the term Pervasive Immersive Game in the last few posts.

I firmly believe that if the social issues can be overcome, then has the ability to become a new trend in gaming. It's changed the game over previous attempts in the most fundamental way possible, penetration. It is now a Pervasive game, available and played anywhere (at least where it is launched).

Other games have had augmented reality elements, so this is not the first Immersive game released, even Niantic had Ingress in 2013, with some of these elements, as well as others such as Starship Titanic from The Digital Village and I Love Bees from Bungie. These also had a closer tie into the real world, rather than just being overlayed on it (using real-world locations, but not integrated except via Augmented Reality). Some of these games also were produced to promote other things (i.e. Halo2 in the case of I Love Bees).

But Pokemon Go is the first Pervasive Immersive Game or PIG.

And this post's title? It comes from Douglas Adams‘ famous book ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy‘, and is the local language translation of half of the marketing slogan “Share and Enjoy!” of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation (who make the Pals who are fun to be with, like Marvin).
