IBM acquires Sanovi for Cloud DR Orchestration

IBM is acquiring disaster recovery orchestration specialist Sanovi. Based in Banglore, India, Sanovi created Sanovi Cloud Continuity, a platform providing automated backup, testing and DR. This has been used on various cloud platforms including Amazon‘s AWS. This allows you to create templates for backup processes. Testing the backups uses the established patterns, ensuring data can be restored. By automating and testing, you get to understand the true time taken to back up and restore data. You also ensure that you’ll always be able to restore your data when you need to. Too often backup processes run without validation, and when the time comes, there is no useful data to restore. This delivers that automated DR solution for when things go wrong.

“Our clients are embracing a digitised world where applications need to be ‘always-on. As a cloud-native company, Sanovi will strengthen our resiliency portfolio to manage the broad range of applications, data, and IT systems of our clients balancing digital and hybrid cloud transformation with increased regulatory compliance.” – Martin Jetter, Senior Vice President, Global Technology Services, IBM.

“IBM’s technology leadership in hybrid cloud infrastructure and resiliency services makes it a clear choice to bring end-to-end services to our customers and transformational value to IBM’s existing client base. Together, we will provide next-generation resiliency solutions for robust hybrid cloud deployments across the globe.” – Chandra Sekhar Pulamarasetti, Co-Founder and CEO, Sanovi

Sanovi will expand IBM’s disaster recovery as a service offering, again named as a leader in Gartner’s 2016 Magic Quadrant for Disaster Recovery as a Service. The acquisition will close later this year, with no details on the value IBM places on Sanovi.

“We believe IBM’s recognition in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Disaster Recovery as a Service report speaks to the strength and reach of our resiliency services portfolio, and the results our clients are experiencing on a daily basis. Given the range of risks surrounding businesses today, we are dedicated to continue delivering the most advanced, secure solutions in the industry so clients – no matter how hybrid their IT environments are – can focus first and foremost on keeping their businesses up and running for long term growth.” – Laurence Guihard-Joly, General Manager, Resiliency Services, IBM

Deploying Sanovi allows you to:

  • Simplify disaster recovery operations
  • Maintain disaster recovery readiness in the cloud
  • Reduce backup complexity and risk
  • Use automation to save time and increase repeatability
  • Improve reporting and compliance
  • Provide a life-cycle recovery approach
