Optus uses Riverbed Steel connect for SD-WAN

Optus are launching their Fusion SD-WAN service using Riverbed‘s SteelConnect technology.

Optus Fusion SD-WAN operates as an “over-the-top” SD-WAN service allow its use on any other network providers platform. They are, I guess, hoping to obtain business for their NBN-based broadband service. As well as potentially pull in the underlying business network later.

Customers gain access to the cloud directly, with lower overall bandwidth costs. The managed platform monitors network performance, proactively moving traffic to alternate paths to keep things flowing.

“Business is moving at an unprecedented pace and, in an effort to remain relevant, organizations have deployed technologies from multiple providers. To ensure the long-term success and ROI of these strategies, Optus Fusion SD-WAN allows businesses to independently manage their networks in real-time, while also gaining the ability to instantly connect to the cloud,” – Mr. Enzo Cocotti, Director, Optus Business.

Riverbed has information in their press-release: Optus Business launches first dedicated SD-WAN Technology.
