AAE-1 now in service links Asia, Africa and Europe

AAE-1 is the Asia-Africa-Europe-1 consortium that manages the largest cable system launched this decade. It provides links to the major regions. The cable will offer a minimum design capacity of 40Tb/s across 5 fibre pairs and supports 100Gb/s transmission technology. Designed to provide minimum latency and the smallest number of hops between Points of Presence in Europe and Asia, AAE-1 will suit international carrier and enterprise businesses.

AAE-1 connects Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, with Malaysia and Singapore, then onwards to Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy and France. Connections at each end of the link are diverse, with Greece, Italy and France in Europe and Singapore and Hong Kong in Asia.

The AAE-1 cable has now entered service, according to an issued press release. It was already on the subsea map in this post.
