ZDNet: Think Google Fiber’s fast? Nokia to show off tech that’s 1,000 times faster

ZDNet is reporting that Nokia has recently shown off technology that is 1,000 time faster than Google Fiber. [At the time of writing Google Fiber delivers 1Gb/s throughput]

This uses Probabilistic Constellation Shaping (PCS), which is an adaption of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). Nokia Bell Labs and Deutsche Telekom T-Labs alongside the Technical University of Munich (TUM) ran the tests, and passed data at close to the current theoretical maximum for a fiber link, according to Nokia’s press release.
